SUMMARY:Earth Day Celebration & Community Festival 2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Headwaters Center on Friday, April 18th, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm for our annual Earth Day Celebration—a free, family-friendly event dedicated to learning about environmental conservation and supporting local sustainability efforts. \nThis year’s event will feature an engaging booth fair highlighting various local organizations, a screening of the short documentary Sam & Me, and opportunities for the community to share their experiences and advice on addressing climate change. We invite everyone to come together, connect with local organizations, and discover actionable ways to protect our environment. \nEvent Schedule: \n5–6:15 pm: Booth Fair – Explore interactive exhibits and learn from local environmental organizations. \n6:10–6:45 pm: Film Screening – Sam & Me: Overcoming Climate Change Anxiety and Finding Hope Through Skiing with Mike Douglas. This 31-minute documentary follows 13-year-old Sam Tierney and his struggle with climate anxiety. In an attempt to ease his stress, Sam writes Salomon pro skier and climate advocate, Mike Douglas, asking for advice. Seeing his younger self in Sam, Mike invites him on a weekly ski meetup to talk about climate, skiing, and life. This film offers a hopeful outlook on how to turn anxiety into advocacy for our environment.  \n6:45–7:30 pm: Audience Participation & Booth Fair – Share your climate experiences on interactive posters and continue exploring booths.  \nThe Earth Day Celebration offers a unique opportunity for the community to engage with environmental organizations, participate in hands-on activities, and gain valuable insights on how to make a positive impact. With 100 attendees expected—including a significant number of children—there will be activities for all ages.  \n \nAdmission is free to the public. | Enjoy Free Food & Beverages (Including Beer & Wine) thanks to our sponsors:  \n            \nAprès Eats & Big Trout Brewing\nThank you to our Watershed Sponsor: \n\nDenver Water\nThank you to our River Sponsor: \nTrout Unlimited: Colorado River Headwaters Chapter\nThank you to our Stream Sponsor:\n\nUpper Colorado Watershed Environment Team\n
